The Beacon Centre is a not-for-profit community centre in the heart of one of the most deprived areas of Cardiff. Operating with an inclusive ethos based on the Christian faith, the Beacon Centre Trust is currently seeking a secretary to help us administer our meetings.

Supporting the Chair, you will be responsible for keeping accurate records of our discussions and decision making processes, as well as distributing minutes and supporting documents to all trustees.

Trustees currently meet monthly at the Beacon Centre on weekday evenings. Although there is no requirement for the successful candidate to identify as a Christian, you will be expected to respect the Christian faith, which forms the basis of our governance.

The Role

We are looking for an individual with a passion for Jesus, a love for children, a sense of fun and an ability to build and run teams that teach, relate to and invest in every child who walks through the doors, through a variety of means. 

Building on existing provision, and continuing to work alongside the local school, the role-holder will be required to create, implement and manage a wide range of activities  including weekly programmes for different age groups, holiday clubs for primary school children and discipleship programmes for children seeking to know Jesus better.

Details

The role is for 20 hours over 3-4 days  per week , and although there is flexibility in where an individual will and can work, there will be an expectation of some time being worked in the Lisvane community from the church office. The role holder will be expected to commit to Church Membership of LBC and Sunday attendance.

Annual starting salary in the range £12000 - £14000 based on experience and qualifications.

Five weeks Pro rata annual leave plus bank holidays

Griffithstown Baptist Church Community & Outreach Worker

This is an exciting new part-time role within Griffithstown Baptist Church to build and develop our outreach, with the aim of spreading the Gospel in the community. We are a mid-sized family orientated church in the heart of the Eastern Valley between Cwmbran and Pontypool.

Role Description

  •   To build and develop the church’s engagement with the local community.

  •   To build relationships to enable the spread of the Gospel.

  •   To be involved in the planning of church events with a community focus events throughout the church year.

  •   To raise the profile of Griffithstown Baptist Church within the community through social media and personal interaction.

  •   To take part with the Minister, in school assemblies at the local primary schools.

  •   To organise and attend the church parent and toddler group on a Monday morning.

  •   To develop other initiatives in agreement with the Minister and Church Leadership.

  •   Working hours are flexible by prior approval. Some evenings and

    weekends will be required as well as attendance at Church services.

  •  The successful applicant will report to the Minister directly and be accountable to the Church Diaconate. A support group from within the church membership will also be put in place.

    Personal Requirements

  •  There is a genuine occupational requirement for the post holder to be a Christian and an active member of your local church.

  •   Be willing to enter into formal church membership at Griffithstown Baptist Church.

  •   Have a desire to see people come to a living faith in Jesus Christ through relational evangelism in the local community.

    Hours & Salary

  • 20hrs per week, £8550 - £10,000 per year based on experience.

  • The role will have a 6 month probationary period.

  • This role is offered on a 3 year contract, reviewed annually.
