The work of Cardiff Street Pastors continues to go well and every Friday & Saturday night we have teams out in Cardiff City Centre that are able to help many vulnerable people. Here are some statistics taken from our reports for the last 3 months which is a summary of our actions whilst on patrol and do not contain all we do during our night:

Vacancy for a combined Youth Leader and Family Worker

  • Join the team at Bethany Baptist church, Cardiff and reach out into the community in a challenging new role as youth leader and family worker.

    The capital’s oldest English-speaking Baptist church is offering the position on a part-time basis to spearhead a strategic plan for the rejuvenation of our membership.

    There is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is a practising Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010. Also, the role is conditional upon the holder having an enhanced DBS check and being entitled to work in the UK. They will also possess communication skills, including social media, to promote and co-ordinate programmes for teenagers and families.

    We are looking for a person who is preferably qualified in youth/family work, who is self-motivated, has initiative and the capacity to be both a team leader and a team player. At least four GCSEs at Grade A-C is also required. 

    The role is for 14 hours per week, for 52 weeks a year with 2 weeks paid holidays and 2 paid bank holidays. Evening and weekend working will be involved. The post is not pensionable.

    Salary (approximately £7.50 per hour) plus expenses.

    Initial contract will be for 12 months with the possibility of a further extension, and the usual satisfactory completion of a 6 month probationary period.

    Do you have a passion to serve the global poor? Can you motivate and encourage volunteers to help? If so you could be our next Specialist Volunteer Manager in Wales. This role is home based and part time 14 hrs a week and requires the successful person to be based in the South Wales area. Preferably a welsh speaker, or with a willingness to learn welsh, you will have proven ability and experience in volunteer management and fundraising.

Volunteering with the Hospital Chaplaincy - Newport

The chaplains in the Newport hospitals are looking for volunteers to support and complement their ministry to patients and their families. We are looking for people who have some pastoral experience, good listening skills and a friendly character who can spare a few hours each week to help in the Royal Gwent and St Woolos hospitals, primarily visiting patients and supporting them pastorally and spiritually through listing and talking. Some people prefer their voluntary work to be practical and they help around the office, with the staff Chill Out support sessions or bringing patients to services and taking them back to the wards. Training will provide guidance and direction for all facets of the work. Care for the Family - Volunteers Needed

Care for the Family is currently recruiting volunteers to provide invaluable administrative support at our busy and friendly head office in Taffs Well, Cardiff.
We have over 600 volunteers working across the UK, supporting families in a variety of ways. Our head office volunteers are a vital part of the team, helping us to provide high quality events and stay in touch with our supporters.

Typical tasks might include putting together delegate packs for our events, inputting data and writing thank you cards to our supporters.
We are looking for volunteers who have good general computer skills, attention to detail and a positive can-do attitude.

So if you are retired, between jobs, looking to gain experience of the workplace, or just have a few hours spare in your schedule each week, please get in touch!
